My Glens Falls: Maury Thompson

This week, we’re chatting with Maury Thompson. For loyal readers of The Post Star, he likely needs no introduction as one of their reporters for 21 years. We were thrilled to learn a bit more about him, including what brought him to Glens Falls, what his perfect Glens Falls day looks like, and what he’s currently working on.

Tell us about yourself!

Maury Thompson, freelance writer and documentary film producer specializing in the history of politics, labor organizing and media in New York’s North Country.

I am partnering with Snarky Aardvark Films of Queensbury on a feature-length documentary about Charles Evans Hughes and the Adirondacks. Release is expected in 2020 (see the trailer here).

I have written two books, “The Biggest Kid at the Balloon Festival: The Walter Grishkot Story,” and “The Animated Feather Duster: Slow News Day Tales of the Legendary Facial Hair of Charles Evans Hughes.” Both are available at The Chapman Historical Museum gift shop.

I previously was a reporter for 21 years for The Post-Star.

I covered 12 area congressional races.

On Life in Glens Falls

I came to Glens Falls from Ticonderoga in July 1999 to accept a staff writer position at The Post-Star. I previously had been a freelance correspondent in Essex County for a little over three years.

I originally expected to stay a year to 18 months, but stayed for nearly two decades.

It didn’t take long for Glens Falls to feel like home.

I like to say that in college I majored in English, and in life I majored in Glens Falls.

My wife, Debbie, and I recently moved to Ticonderoga to spend more time with my 12 grandchildren.

But I still major in Glens Falls – writing about its history, people and economic development.

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

On a perfect day in Glens Falls I would spend a Thursday afternoon researching at The Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library, catch supper at a downtown restaurant, and then come back to the library for a folk music concert.

On The Past

Trying to pick a favorite memory is like trying to pick a favorite flavor of ice cream at Stewart’s. I will settle for a memory from my first weekend in Glens Falls – attending Adirondack Drums at East Field.

Adirondack Drums was an annual drum and bugle corps show that Fort Edward Lions Club presented at East Field for many years starting in the 1970s.

Many of the top youth music and marching units on the summer circuit stopped in Glens Falls.

Glens Falls Music Academy brought the event back last summer.

…And On the Future

The biggest change in downtown Glens Falls is its vibrancy. When I first moved here in 1999 there was little activity in downtown on evenings and weekends unless there was an event at the Civic Center. On Sunday afternoons I would have to walk across the bridge to South Glens Falls to find a restaurant, other than Burger King, that was open.

The consistency between now, then and a century ago is the community spirit.

My hope for the future is prosperity for all Glens Falls businesses.

My Glens Falls: Christopher Perilli

This week, we’re talking with Patrol Officer Christopher Perilli of the Glens Falls Police Department. We crossed paths with Officer Perilli at Pet Fest last month, and loved getting the chance to meet his K-9 partner, Phlash! Read on to find out what inspired him to become a police officer, a few of his downtown favorites, and a word of advice on dog training.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Christopher Perilli, Patrol Officer / K-9 Handler with the Glens Falls Police Dept. I live with my girlfriend, 4 dogs and 1 cat.

What inspired you to become a police officer?

Growing up on Long Island when I was young, my twin brother picked the phone up and called 911 and hung up. Two Nassau County police officers came with their lights on and I thought it was the coolest thing. 

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I enjoy working with my K-9 partner Phlash and being able to demonstrate to people how Phlash works and his capabilities. 

Tell us a bit about Phlash!

Phlash is an 8 year old black lab. His birthday is April 21st and his favorite treats are bacon treats. He lives with me along with 3 other dogs. 

How long was training to become a K-9? And we must know, any dog training tips?!

Phlash and I went to a K-9 school for 6 months. I’ve always told people that you can get a dog to do anything with dog treats. Just make sure you keep practicing it and when the dog does what you want him to do, make sure you praise him or her and reward them with a treat! 

Anything else you’d like to share about Phlash?

I would want people to know that not all police K-9s are mean. A lot of people are afraid of the K-9 but Phlash is a non aggressive detection dog. 

On Life in Glens Falls

I grew up in Queensbury mostly, but spent a lot of time in Glens Falls with friends. I’ve been in the Queensbury/Glens Falls area since I was about 8 years old. I would say my favorite thing about Glens Falls is the different restaurants and coffee spots downtown. I especially enjoy Downtown City Tavern, Bullpen Tavern, Mean Max, Mikado and Spot Coffee. 

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

My ideal day in the city would be dinner at Downtown City Tavern and catching a hockey game at the CIA or a baseball game at East Field, and then a night cap at the Bullpen Tavern.

Pet Fest and Taste of the North Country are always a favorite of mine but I’ve always enjoyed Boo 2 You in the City and handing out candy to the children in their costumes.

My Glens Falls: Rachael Leigh Rodenmayer

This week, we’re chatting with Rachael Leigh! You’ve probably seen her gorgeous portrait photography on Instagram (we’ve been following along for a few years now!), and we always love running into Rachael and her husband walking their sweet pups around the neighborhood. Hiya! My name is Rachael Leigh Rodenmayer & I am the owner & artist behind {ser.en.dip.iti} photography & certified aerial yoga instructor at {ser.en.dip.iti} fit. I rebuilt my business headquarters in Upstate NY after moving from my hometown in Colorado almost 12 years ago and have been blessed to create adventures in the #518 and all around the world, from the United Kingdom to Australia!

How did you get your start in photography? What do you love about it?

I absolutely adore photographing people and have since I was a teenager. After interning for a professional photography duo, I began my own business at 18 years of age and over the years, have found my absolute passion photographing custom senior portrait adventures for upcoming high school graduates #serendipitiseniors. I've just begun expanding into lifestyle photography for social media content shoots. Creating with business women in the area with #serendipitisubscribe is so much fun for me.  I love coming along side these awesome entrepreneurs to capture them doing life & building their own passions! 

As dog people ourselves, we couldn't let the opportunity to ask about your dogs pass us by! Tell us about them!

You had me at "dog people" and now you wont be able to shut me up about my fur babies ;) My boys are Ace & Booker and they are my world. Ace is a tripawd rescue and Booker is a Bernese Mountain Dog. When I'm not shooting or teaching aerial yoga, you can find us at the dog park or going on an adventure in the woods or lakeside. I love them sooo much & you can find them on insta @brosbookerandace (shameless plug).

On the Past

Downtown charm at its finest, my earliest glimpse was after eating dinner out with Wade one summer night. As we began to walk home, we heard lively jazz music streaming from the city park and realized that a Big Band was playing live in the gazebo in the moonlight, we wandered over and danced to a couple songs under the starry sky & sparkle lights. I remember thinking "we've moved to Stars Hollow!"

…And On the Future

I would love to see a dueling piano bar, a dog bark & brew (indoor/outdoor dog park bar) & a natural grocery store like healthy living!

Hi! My name is Amanda Blanton and I am the Marketing & Communications Manager for the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce. I am a proud auntie to my niece, and cat momma to the most handsome orange cat on the planet, named Fry. I enjoy cooking, traveling, a good book and good company. I make a pretty good margarita. Oh, and I hate winter.

On Life in Glens Falls

I have lived in this region for almost 10 years. Before packing up a truck and moving to Upstate New York I lived in San Antonio, Texas for 13 years. Being in a military family took me all over the world, but there is something special about Upstate New York. Not only do I have family living here but there is a great sense of community, which you cannot find everywhere. When deciding where to move, this seemed like the obvious choice.


Home ownership is something I hope to achieve one day, but renting has its perks too. I work in downtown Glens Falls and my commute is 11 minutes. Life is good!

Some Glens Falls Favorites

 Although I have only lived here for 10 years, I have been visiting Glens Falls many years before that. My sister and I spent a few summers exploring Glens Falls/Queensbury/Lake George, when we visited family. I believe that gives me an interesting perspective of the region as I got to watch it change over the years. This may sound dorky, but I absolutely LOVE Crandall Public Library. It is such a beautiful building and a great resource for the community. I also enjoy walking around downtown as there always seems to be something new to see or check out.

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

I am absolutely obsessed with the breakfast bowl at Rachel's Cafe & Spice Co. on Warren Street. I never knew sweet potatoes could be incorporated into breakfast! If you haven't been to Mikado, since they moved to Glen Street, you have to go. Not only is it gorgeous inside, but they have these awesome sushi boxes that are perfect for lunch. The best thing about downtown is everything is within walking distance and there's a little bit of everything. I could get a craft beer and Buffalo chicken soup at Davidson Brothers, then hop over to the Bullpen Tavern for their grilled cheese of the week. Too many choices!

 On the Future

I saw that someone else said a bookstore would be a great addition, and I totally agree. What else? A rooftop bar somewhere would be awesome. And I know space may be a little limited, but a small dog park would make a lot of people (and furry friends) happy.

My Glens Falls: Michael Murray

This week, we’re chatting with Michael Murray. We met Michael downtown last summer, and ended up chatting about cars, road trips, and all the reasons we love Glens Falls. Another example of what is great about our little city - you’re just one conversation away from learning something new. Read on to find out where he’s from, what brought him to Glens Falls, and why he’s decided to stick around.

I’m Michael Murray and I work for an amazing architecture firm right here in Glens Falls. My responsibilities are varied at AJA Architecture, but my main goal is to introduce new clients to our firm so they can know more about the great work that we do as designers for local, regional, and international design projects.

On Life in Glens Falls

I’m not originally from Glens Falls, but every time I’ve visited, I’ve found another reason to like it here – and last year I decided to move here and so now I’m a “local”!

I grew up in southern Connecticut but moved out west in my late 20’s and lived in Boulder Colorado for several years. I first became familiar with Glens Falls about 10-years ago while visiting friends here in town. Whenever I’d come to visit, their family would always be active doing things in town and so my visits with them over the years always gave me a very good glimpse of what Glens Falls and the surrounding area was all about. I remember going to the Balloon Festival with them, boating on Lake George, going to a drive-in movie, taking in the scenery on several different hikes, going to hockey games at the Cool Insuring Arena, and of course, lots of dinners out and lots of laughs in the local restaurants and pubs. We also took a few road-trips to Albany, Saratoga Springs, Lake Placid, and other areas of the Adirondacks. With each of my visits I discovered something new that I liked and appreciated about the area. And I especially liked the “small-town” feel of Glens Falls.


I started visiting Glens Falls a bit more frequently a few years ago after I left Colorado and moved back to my hometown of Greenwich Connecticut. My move from Colorado was on the same day my friend, Andy Allison, started his own architecture firm in Glens Falls – AJA Architecture and Planning. That moving-day was an exciting day for me for two reasons; I was excited to be back on the east coast again after being out west for so many years, and I was excited to hear about Andy starting his own firm. I began helping AJA early on with some marketing strategies which gave me a good excuse to drive up to Glens Falls more often. As the firm grew, so did my involvement. At the time, I was working with AJA as a consultant out of my home-office in Connecticut, but as AJA’s client-base increased, so did my 3-hour drives to the office. And so after a few years of up-and-back drives from Greenwich to Glens Falls, I began working for AJA full-time and decided to relocate here. I’ve only been living here a year but with all my visits over the years, I already feel like a “local”.

Some Glens Falls Favorites


What I like most about Glens Falls is the people and the more relaxed pace compared to living an hour outside of NYC. The people of Glens Falls seem to be very down-to-earth and genuinely friendly. And now that I live up here, I regularly see people in town that I’ve met at an event, or at the local YMCA, or at one of the coffee shops, and it’s always a good opportunity to stop and say ‘hi’ and catch-up. It’s just great to be in a small town where community is important.

I’ve discovered countless great hikes, bike rides, and snowshoeing around town. Cole’s Wood is a great place for nighttime cross country skiing, Gurney Lane has some of the best single-track mountain bike trails I’ve ever done, and the Rush Pond Trail is one the area’s best-kept secrets for both biking and hiking. And last summer I learned about the rail-trail that goes all the way to Lake George. Another favorite of mine is West Mountain. It’s really amazing to have such a fun ski area right here in town. And in the summer being on a boat in nearby Lake George is such a great way to spend the day. The lake is so beautiful. There’s really so much to do in and around Glens Falls that the list is too long to name. And that’s not even mentioning anything about the wonders found further north in the Adirondack Park – Whiteface Mountain and Lake Placid, Gore Mountain, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and so much more. I think it’s great that all these towns and all that they have to offer in the winter and in the summer, are just a couple of hours of relaxed scenic driving to the north.  

 A Perfect Glens Falls Day

Before I moved to Glens Falls, I would typically stay at the Queensbury Hotel when I visited, and so I’m very familiar with all the great restaurants and pubs in the downtown area. I’ve frequented nearly all of them and I like them all – Morgan and Co for their amazing food and expertly made martinis, Downtown City Tavern for their lunch and good selection of brews, Rock Hill Bake House (now “The Exchange”) for their awesome sandwiches and fresh breads, Davidson Brothers for their outdoor seating, the Bullpen Tavern for when the game is on, and of course, Raul’s Mexican Grill for locally sourced Mexican food (and the best margaritas in town!). I also like that Glens Falls has a variety of coffee shops. I like them all, but I think SPoT Coffee is my favorite (with Spektor Roasters being a close second). SPoT Coffee is a very social spot and a good place to chill on a Sunday morning, especially when the weather allows for the large window-wall to be open.

On the Future

It’s great that there are some new restaurants in Glens Falls, which to me, shows that this area is improving. The new Downtown Social has a great menu and was designed thoughtfully and elegantly. It has an upscale feel to it, without feeling pretentious. It’s got a really great atmosphere. Mikado’s new location also offers a very upscale look, while keeping its local flavor and fun hibachi tables. I haven’t been to the [farmacy] restobar yet, but I’ve heard some great reviews and so I’m looking forward to checking it out. And soon Craft On Nine will be moving to South Street, which I know will be as popular as their current location in Fort Edward.

I’ve seen lots of improvements in Glens Falls over the past few years and I believe there’s more to come without altering much of the personality of the town as we all know it today. The newly renovated Park Theater is a good example of how a run-down building can come back to life and be something special for Glens Falls. My hope is that more of the local retail stores will thrive, which I know is an on-going issue with any small retail shop. But with the new restaurants coming in, new apartments recently built, and a new parking structure soon to be built, I believe we’ll all see some nice improvements to Glens Falls soon and in the coming years.

My Glens Falls: Sidney Scacchetti & Steven Brodt

This week, we’re excited to get to know Sidney Scacchetti and Steven Brodt! We discovered their Instagram account recently, and it was great to finally meet the couple behind the photos. Tell us about yourselves!

Our names are Sidney Scacchetti and Steven Brodt, we created and run the @historic.homes Instagram page, an account dedicated to showcasing historic homes, buildings and architecture in the area. Aside from that, we also own and operate a non-profit paranormal investigation organization, The South Glens Falls Paranormal Society. In addition, we also recently just launched our new marketing business, Be Social Marketing. When we have a free moment to ourselves, you'll find us sitting on the porch of our 109 year old home lounging with our rescue pup, Luna (@pit_luna_bull).

On Life in Glens Falls

We both grew up just over the bridge in South Glens Falls. After moving away, we didn't think we would permanently return to the area, but that wasn’t the case. We soon found ourselves back in NY State, but this time a little further south. We rented in the historic district of Schenectady while finishing school. Upon graduation, we bought our first home right in Glens Falls! Our house was built in 1910, complete with all original wood work and old charm. We were/are excited to restore our home to its original beauty all while making it ours! We enjoy living within walking distance to downtown, making it easy to frequent all of the near by restaurants. 

Some Glens Falls Favorites

We enjoy all of the festivals and activities that Glens Falls has to offer - there is always something going on. In the warmer months we like to take Luna to Rob & Debs Frozen Dreams for a doggie dish, peruse the booths at LARAC and stop into Juicin' Jar (who are dog friendly) for a delicious gluten free snack. Being located just 15 minutes south of Lake George allows us to take a short drive for a hike or a stroll along the shores. 

Glens Falls has plenty to do in the long cold winter months as well. We enjoy stopping into Spektor Coffee for breakfast and a couple caramel bulletproof lattes! Our favorite winter activity has to be supporting the local ECHL team, the Adirondack Thunder. The Thunder games are always a great way to spend a night with friends. Having the Cool Insuring Arena right on the edge of downtown brings big crowds and helps support many of the local businesses with pre and post game drinks and food.

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

A perfect day in GF would be hitting up the Farmers’ Market on a Saturday morning, followed by a reality class in downtown with our PAWS family (North Country Paws for Obedience). For lunch, sitting outside (so Luna can join) at our favorite restaurant, Gourmet Café, where they have an extensive gluten free menu, and the staff knows our order before we even sit down. Next, a trip to Spot Coffee for their amazing lavender lemonade! We also like to head over to Crandall Park for a round of tug and a game of frisbee with Luna. Sometimes, while I’m busy taking pictures of old homes, Sidney sneaks away for some shopping and pampering at Beauty Bubble. For dinner we would head over to Siam Thai and grab some fresh sushi and a drink! Being able to walk to all of our favorite spots gives me plenty of chances to take pictures of all the historic homes in Glens Falls.

ON THE PAST

The city of Glens Falls has lost a number of historic buildings over the years due to large fires and modernization. However, we are glad to see that the mind set of the area has changed from tearing down and rebuilding to restoring and revitalizing these historic structures. The homes surrounding the downtown area are historic which lends itself to the Glens Falls of the past. Being able to live in a home that has seen Glens Falls evolve for the last century helps give the city its cozy, charming vibe.  

 …AND ON THE FUTURE

We are excited to announce the launch of our new business, Be Social Marketing, a marketing agency focused on small business and bringing the community together. The start of this new journey is very exciting for us and we are very eager to help the business in the area prosper!

We look forward to the opening of the year round indoor farmers market, the new parking garage that will accompany it, and all of the new business that will be popping up. We can't wait to see the historic buildings of Glens Falls get a second chance with all of the ongoing restorations in downtown.

My Glens Falls: Natascha Pearl-Mansman

Hello! My name is Natascha Pearl-Mansman. I’m an artist, wife, stay-at-home mama, and owner of Darling Doughnuts Artisan Doughnut Pop-Up Shop. 

On Life in Glens Falls

I grew up in Glens Falls and have lived here most of my life. Upon graduating from high school I felt like I needed to get out, move to a big city and see the world. I lived in Boston for almost five years, and even spent a summer semester in China! I didn’t truly appreciate all that Glens Falls has to offer until I left, and moved back home in 2010. My biggest complaint about big city life - it never got dark enough at night to see the stars! Glens Falls has all the perks of city life with a small-town feel, and in just a few minutes drive you can be in nature. Within a few hours drive you can be in Montreal, Boston, or New York City, but we have world-class attractions right here in our own backyard. 

Both my parents have spent most of their lives in Glens Falls as well, and we have a lot of family that lives in the area. My Dad’s family owned Pearl’s Department Stores which was in business from the 1920s through the 1980s, and they had a warehouse in the old WO building on Maple St. He collects historical architectural details, and I grew up in a house built in 1832 over by the Bay St Cemetery - it even still has thumb latch doors! Apparently the land the cemetery sits on used to be the fields of the person who built our house, and the surrounding homes were built for his children. I love seeing the preservation of our historical architecture around the city - I’m especially excited to see the restoration of that tiny home over on Culvert St! 

My husband and I rent a duplex apartment close to Downtown in Glens Falls with our daughter and our two cats. We’re in walking distance to shops, restaurants, schools, and parks, so I think we’re pretty well situated! Plus, my brother-in-law and his wife live upstairs so we couldn’t ask for better neighbors. My commercial kitchen space is only a few blocks away - at least I don’t have very far to travel when I’m pulling all-nighters making doughnuts! 

Some Glens Falls Favorites

My favorite thing about Glens Falls is all the events and activities we have throughout the year - from the LARAC and Zonta Festivals in the summer, to the Balloon Festival in the Fall, ice skating on Crandall Pond in winter, and Thursday Markets at the Shirt Factory starting up again in spring - there’s always something to do. We’re lucky to have a thriving arts community, and places like the Hyde Museum, the World Awareness Children’s Museum, the CR Wood Theater, and the Crandall Public Library to enjoy. I love seeing all the small businesses opening up and thriving downtown, it’s really come a long way since I was a kid. 

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

On days when I’m not working, I love to take my daughter out for a brunch date downtown, usually Rock Hill Bakehouse Cafe (now the Exchange Cafe) for soup and sandwiches (and a cookie, of course!), or Samantha’s Cafe - their bananas foster oatmeal is so yummy! Then after a nap, we’ll pack up the stroller and take a walk to Crandall Park or down the bike trail - and stop at Cooper’s Cave for ice cream (I love their ‘baby’ cone - it’s the perfect size for a little one!).

On the occasion that my husband and I are both off on the same day, we like to go out to Poopie’s Diner for breakfast (love their homefries and the Villa Bread toast!). Admittedly between owning my own business and being a mom, and my husband’s work and his band (Joe Mansman and the Midnight Revival Band) we don’t get many opportunities for date nights - but when we do I love to go out for margaritas at Raul’s, have dinner at Aroy Dee (I either order the chirashi sushi or drunken noodles) or Downtown City Tavern (sunnyside up egg on a pizza, yes please!), and catch some live music somewhere. 

On the Past

I still remember that epic snowstorm, I think it was ‘93 or ‘94 - we got almost 4 feet of snow and everything was shut down for the day. People were cross-country skiing down the road, and we had enough snow that we built an igloo in our back yard. I think it was that same year on my sister’s birthday that we caught a rare glimpse of the northern lights! A lot of people complain about the cold in upstate NY, but I love the changing of the seasons. When I’ve brought friends from around the country (and around the world) to this area they’re always blown away by how beautiful it is here! 

…and On the Future

I would love to be able to open a brick-and-mortar location for Darling Doughnuts at some point! I started my business after my daughter Clementine was born. My goal was to earn enough money working nights and weekends to make my monthly student loan payments so that we could afford for me to stay home with her. I’ve always baked for fun - I make awesome bagels, pretzels, and even fully-laminated croissants and pan au chocolat, but it was my husband Joey who finally convinced me to get over my fear of the deep fryer and try making doughnuts. I knew right away that I was on to something! Our area has a ton of great cider donuts (we even had some in lieu of cake at our wedding!), but is lacking in the kind of flavorful yeast-raised doughnuts that you can find in the big cities. Sometimes I wish I had chosen to make something less time and labor-intensive (they take 10-12 hours to make depending on the batch size), but the response has been incredible. I’ve sold nearly 5,000 doughnuts in my first year in business, and have had the opportunity to work with many great local businesses and organizations. I rent a shared commercial kitchen space in town, but have reached the point where the demand has exceeded my current production capabilities, so I’ll be keeping my eyes out for a brick-and-mortar storefront in the future!

It’s great to see a building from Glens Falls’s industrial age reimagined as a space for artists and artisans to showcase their wares - and the food truck corrals are fun for the whole family!

My Glens Falls: Joseph Girard III

This week, we caught up with Joseph Girard III - JG3! He likely needs no introduction, as most of us were cheering him on as he and his Glens Falls High School Basketball teammates won the State and Federation Championships earlier this year. Read on to find out a bit more about him, including his favorite places to grab a bite to eat, what he’s looking forward to about college, and a few words of advice for up and coming basketball players.

Tell us about yourself! 

My name is Joseph Girard III and I am a senior at Glens Falls High School. I will be attending Syracuse University after graduation and will be playing basketball for the Orangemen. I will be leaving for SU on June 30th and taking classes over the summer while working out with my future basketball coaches and teammates. The SU basketball team will be heading to Italy in August for an exhibition tour and play in some exhibition games. I am looking forward to this trip! When I am not in school or playing basketball, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing video games and enjoying summertime activities like boating, tubing, hanging by our pool and miniature golfing.

On Life in Glens Falls

Glens Falls has always been my home. You can say I am a “local”… born at Glens Falls Hospital, live in Glens Falls and go to Glens Falls High School. My parents grew up in Glens Falls as well. My mom is a graduate of Glens Falls High and my dad attended St. Mary’s School in Glens Falls. I think it says a lot that they both went away to college (LeMoyne College in Syracuse) and returned home to start a career and raise a family. I believe many of us feel that Glens Falls is a community to be proud of and a great place to raise a family.

What I love about my neighborhood is that we are centrally located to the places I go to the most - the bike trail, walking distance to the YMCA and Crandall Park, walking distance to the School and Downtown Glens Falls. Although I say “walking distance”, I used to ride my bike all over with my friends, and now I usually drive!

What I love about Glens Falls overall is the community feel and support. It was an honor to play in front of so many supporters and community members during our football and basketball seasons. Playing in the Basketball Federation tournament to a sold-out crowd at the Cool Insuring Arena was incredible! We also appreciated all the people who came out for the Parade honoring the basketball team. Glens Falls community members support each other!

What I love about my school is that I have a lot of friends and know many kids from all grades. Our smaller class sizes and neighborhood schools allow students to get to know their classmates. It is also neat that many of our teachers and administrators are Glens Falls graduates. I like to hear their stories about how school was “when they were in our seats”.

Some Glens Falls Favorites

As a true basketball fan – one of my favorite things about Glens Falls is hosting the NYS High School Basketball Tournament and the Federation tournament. I grew up attending the tournaments at the Glens Falls Civic Center (now Cool Insuring Arena). My grandfather, Joe Girard Sr, was on the basketball committee (s) – so as a treat he would let me go with him to “volunteer” and help out. I especially loved when I missed school for it! I enjoyed watching players – like Lance Stephenson, Dajuan Coleman and of course, Jimmer Fredette. I remember wishing and wanting to have the opportunity to play in the tournament and be a State Champion one day. How ironic we won the State tournament in Binghamton this past March, the last year it was being held there before coming back to Glens Falls! I am so thankful my team and I made it to the Federation Tournament this past March to win the title in front of our home crowd!

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

My friends and I always seem to congregate around a basketball hoop or the football field. Going to the “turf”, our high school football field, to throw the ball around or the YMCA for basketball or a friend’s house to play mini-ball is usually the perfect day for me. For down time we play video games – Fortnite or Madden.

And then of course we eat! Some of our favorite spots are:

On the Past

My parents tell me I was putting the ball in the hoop before I could walk. Apparently, I would crawl with the ball to make the shot in the basket on my Fisher-Price hoop. I never stopped…. as I grew bigger, so did the basketball and hoop. I could not wait to play on a basketball team. I started at the YMCA playing Saturday mornings when I was maybe five (5). I remember being so excited and made sure I had a basketball uniform to wear and basketball sneakers. When I was in third grade, my dad put together a Glens Falls team with me, my cousins and friends. We would play against other schools and go to small tournaments. It wasn’t until 7th grade that I played on a school team and played AAU basketball for Albany teams. My dad started teaching and coaching me at basketball and my grandfather would give me advice on how to better my game. I always strived to be a better player than both of them. Of course, Jimmer has been an inspiration and mentor to me. I grew up watching him play at Glens Falls and followed him at BYU, in the NBA and in China. He has been a great role model for me because he is humble, hard-working and dedicated. I have enjoyed our workouts together and appreciate his words of encouragement and advice on how to be a better all-around player.

My favorite high school moments were winning two (2) football state championships and a basketball state championship – the only ones in the School’s history.

On the Future

I chose Syracuse University because I felt it was the best fit for me. I built a strong relationship with Coach Boeheim and Coach McNamara and was comfortable with how they recruited me and made me feel a part of the team. I look forward to playing and contributing to the team. I plan to study Communications and Syracuse University has one of the top programs in this field -– Newhouse School of Public Communications.

While at school, I will miss my family and friends, for sure. I’ll have to find some favorite eating spots in Syracuse to replace the places I will miss here. But it is nice to know I am only a few hours away from home if I get a craving for something!

I am looking forward to getting to know my teammates and experiencing being part of a Division 1 basketball team. Like every college student, I will be adjusting to living on my own and taking care of things that I don’t necessarily think of now, but I am excited to grow as a person, a player and a student while at Syracuse University.

My goals at college and beyond is to help SU win a NCAA Championship, obtain a great education and play in the NBA.

Words of Advice for Up-and-Coming Basketball Players

Work hard and practice hard. Playing with older kids who were bigger and faster than me pushed me to work harder. If you set a goal for yourself – do what it takes to reach that goal. There will be sacrifices along the way – but trust me, it is worth it!

My Glens Falls: Cristina Laubenheimer

Tell us about yourself!

Hello! My name is Cristina Laubenheimer. I am the owner and operator of Juicin' Jar. I live in Queensbury with my fiancé Daniel (we recently got engaged on Christmas last year!). We live with our dog Riley and our two kitties Rosie and Ralphie. I love all types of food and enjoy making dinner for friends and family. Most of my free time is spent working on projects with my fiancé, getting outside, or making a meal and watching a good movie!  

On Life in Glens Falls

I am not originally from this area. My parents were born and raised in Long Island which is where I was born. We moved up here to the Ballston Lake area originally. We moved around a lot as kids and I ended up graduating from Schuylerville High School. My mom bought her house in South Glens Falls 10 years ago, where we planted our roots in the area.

I attended Adirondack Community College (now SUNY Adirondack) and transferred to the Paul Smith's ACE program where I studied hotel restaurant tourism management. Over the last ten years I have worked a lot in the area and met a lot of people throughout the years of moving around and through college.

My family is small but we all have found our home in this beautiful area. My oldest sister is now married and recently had our niece Eleana and my sister Nicole and I have been running the Juicin' Jar together for the past four years. My mom works for Glens Falls Hospital. My fiancé Daniel has a large family and was born and raised in Queensbury. We rent an apartment in Queensbury but are working and saving towards owning our own home, hopefully with some land where we can have horses and a small farm.

Some Glens Falls Favorites

My favorite thing about Glens Falls is the local small town charm. Each building, business owner, and street has so much character and charm. There are so many great places and events that happen. Summer is my favorite time of year with so many local events like Take a Bite, GemFest, and Wingfest. I’m sure people know, but the local community that makes up this city are very giving and involved people. There are many of us who support and see the full potential this city has and what it will become.

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

If I'm not at the Juicin' Jar (let's be honest, most of my time is spent there which truly does bring me joy to make people happy with delicious food!), my ideal day would be to wake up on a Saturday and go to the Glens Falls Farmers Market and pick up fresh produce and flowers. I’d make my way to a yoga class at Yoga Kayla where my sister Nicole is now an instructor! Or a restorative Yin Yoga Class at the Adirondack Salt Cave. My new favorite dinner spot is the Seasoned Restaurant that holds the culinary program for SUNY Adirondack. I love the gelato at the Lake George Olive Oil Co. For a special occasion, I will find the perfect dress at Minky Mink or any accessories or handbag at Finders Keepers Consignment. When I’m shopping for someone, I love Milk & Honey as they have the cutest baby clothes, nice trendy jewelry, and best smelling soaps and candles! Twice a year, Crandall Library hosts their book sale and you will find me there with three bags of gently used books! I am looking forward to trying the new restaurant [farmacy]!

On the Past

My favorite Glens Falls memory is the day we moved our business from South Street to Exchange Street. We had been on the search for the perfect spot for our business and from the kitchen to the outside patio, it has the charm that fits us perfectly. I have loved to see the changes that the perfect location makes for a business. I can hear my college business professor saying "location, location , location".

…And On The Future

I would love to see a larger parking area for the community! That is the number one thing I think tourists and the community need to be able to enjoy our beautiful city even more!

My Glens Falls: Steph Rollo

This week, we’re chatting with Steph Rollo! As a registered nurse at Glens Falls Hospital for over 20 years, she’s seen quite the transformation in Glens Falls through that time! We were excited to find out what she loves about her job, how she hits reset after work, and the downtown shops she wishes would re-open.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Steph Rollo and I have worked as a registered nurse at Glens Falls Hospital (GFH) for almost 21 years. I am a certified gastroenterology nurse (CGRN) and I am very active in our shared leadership structure at GFH. I love what I do. I go into work each day with a smile.

Being a nurse allows me to care for and interact with our community members. They are our neighbors, friends and families. I want to help take the best possible care of them. That can be in preventative medicine such as educating people about colon cancer prevention, for example. It can be helping to care for those who need treatment for existing health issues, actively participating in their procedures and recovery, as well as providing follow-up care.

Our mission statement at GFH is to improve the health of people in our region by providing access to exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care every day and in every setting. As a nurse, I have had the pleasure of seeing firsthand the teamwork, pride, and genuine care that goes into what we do. I know the level of commitment that our nurses have for the care that we provide to our community and I am happy to be a part of that team.

It's pretty awesome when your work is also your passion. I’m very blessed to be able to do what I love.  

On Life in Glens Falls

I don’t live in Glens Falls, but I have lived in the area my whole life. I went to school in Lake George but Glens Falls is definitely my second home. More specifically, I guess the hospital is like my second home. Most of my family lives in the area as well.

I stay in this area because I genuinely love it and the sense of community that we have here. People go above and beyond to help each other. One of my close friends was new to the area and after running into several friends and people that I knew she asked me if there was anyone that I didn’t know. I don’t think that I have ever met a stranger and I can thank my parents for that. I love getting to know people and their “stories.” I’m fascinated by people. I love books and the stories within their pages, but nothing compares to real-life narrations and the richness of hearing people tell their stories. Thankfully, my profession provides me with countless opportunities to meet people.

I’ve seen such a positive transformation in Glens Falls over the last 15 years or so. There has been so much growth and new businesses seem to open up all of the time. Realtors and developers are recognizing the potential of Glens Falls.

I love the four seasons and the countless community activities that happen throughout the entire year here. The Wood Theater and The Park Theater are two great places to catch some live entertainment. Our area has been on the sports map for a long time with major teams considering our area as conducive to the development of their young players. Our family used to have season tickets to the Detroit Red Wings AHL affiliate, The Adirondack Red Wings. Many hockey players that were on their way up passed through our arena. As a result, many of the prominent athletes who spent time in our area, made it their home. When people come here, they stay here.

For me, this area will always read as home on my GPS.

While I do not own a home in Glens Falls, I have always admired and appreciated the vintage architecture, character and true hometown feeling that it has to offer. The buildings and homes each tell a story and add to the richness of our community. I love seeing people invest in older homes and renovate them to make them new again, while maintaining their character, heritage and history.

Glens Falls has a way of making you feel welcome and feel as if you are a part of things. I love that it is family-friendly and safe. I see our officers and rescue workers out and about daily making sure of it.

If you drive through town, you’ll see families spending time together, walkers and joggers, cyclists, and people with their dogs. We live in a very active area with plenty of fitness opportunities. We have area parks & recreation, The Adirondack Balloon Festival, concerts, Take a Bite, Taste of the North Country, the LARAC arts festival, the Glens Falls Symphony, vintage car shows, and so much more to enjoy. These are just some of the community events and activities that foster community connections. There is just always something to do.

Some Glens Falls Favorites

Glens Falls and our surrounding areas have such a uniquely strong sense of community. We rally around each other and support each other like no other place that I have seen. That’s my favorite thing about our area. When there is a time of need, people just lock arms and support each other. When we have local school activities and sporting events you will see family members, townspeople and local businesses all take part in the festivities.

Glens Falls is a town of traditions. One of my favorite annual events is the South High Marathon Dance. If you want to feel a palpable community pulse you cannot miss the way everyone pulls together to help local people, families and charities. Millions of dollars are raised by school kids, our community and the awesome businesses who contribute as well. That money stays in our community helping area people in need.

One hidden gem might be the Warren County Bikeway which offers over 18 miles of fun between Lake George and Glens Falls. It’s just another area activity that gets you outside and doesn’t cost you a penny to enjoy. That said though, I always tell people that mental health and physical health go hand in hand. So, go ahead and treat yourself to a little ice cream at one of shops while you’re at it.

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

My perfect day is usually one where I can hit the reset button, so to speak. I just like to take time to recharge and maybe do a little people watching while enjoying a hot tea or a latte.  My husband and I might take a wander through the Shirt Factory to check out local crafts, baked goods, food trucks and activities. Then, I would probably stop at a garden center (who am I kidding? …   probably a few) and grab-up some plants, trees and gardening supplies. I love spending time in my yard.

I always enjoy being home, sitting by a fire in my back yard, soaking up the sounds of nature. I like to watch my dogs play and spend time with family. My time is spent enjoying the natural attributes of the area. The beauty is that you don’t have to spend money to enjoy yourself here.

On the Past

Some of my favorite memories of Glens Falls center around the Adirondack Red Wings games and time with my family. Nights at the Civic Center brought people out no matter what the winter weather was.

As for favorite stores that I would like to see brought back, I really miss Downtown Charm and Muddy Boots Decor. They had some really cool vintage finds, chalk paint supplies and Pinterest classes with chocolate, wine and paint. I used to go there after work, with friends. The girls at the shops were always so much fun, too. If they announced that they were reopening, I could guarantee that I’d be right there to see it happen… and to get first dibs!

…And On the Future

I really think that our area is the package deal. The beauty of our region speaks for itself and there is so much to do. We have so many great restaurants, parks, bike paths, strong school systems, great local sports, and a fantastic library. I’m all for anything that promotes family time and strengthens our community.

I suppose if I could wave a magic wand the only thing that I’d ask for would be more time to enjoy what we already have.

On Life in Glens Falls

I've lived here most of my life, except when I was very young and a 2 year hiatus in Florida.

I came back to Glens Falls because I've lived here so long that a lot of my friends still live up here, not that I didn't make great friends in Florida (miss you guys). but friends are one of the most important things to me and I've been lucky to have some great ones. 

I stayed in Glens Falls because I fell for my wife (I knew her a long time before that, but we both grew up) and we had our first munchkin. My family is my entire world and everything I do now is to hopefully create things they can be proud of.

We rent a house in the city, just makes more financial sense right now. And honestly, I just love that my neighborhood has a park within walking distance - it really helps keep the kids busy in the summer.

Some Glens Falls Favorites

My favorite thing about Glens Falls has to be the aesthetic. I'm a visual person and just the fact that I can walk down the street and see an old Gothic church, walk a few blocks and see some old buildings with old iron fire escapes, old houses with their own personality, go walk around an old cemetery, and then walk around the woods (I know Cole's Woods is technically Queensbury but eh I still walk them).

A Perfect Glens Falls Day

Honestly, my perfect day in Glens Falls would probably be waking up super early, going out and getting some nice sunrise shots hopefully from someplace elevated (I've been wanting to get on top of the Traveler's Building forever). Then come home, wake up my kids, go outside and let them play for a while. Then we all go get ice cream at Cooper’s Cave because I am a sucker for mixing all those soft serve flavors. Then take ‘em all to the movies assuming something we want to see is playing. Then after we tuck them in, leave the kids with grandma and go take some night portraits of my wife out and around town. Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good day.

On The Past

I have a loooooot of memories of Glens Falls, but one of the best has to be when I was around 11, my mother used to work at East Field when the Lumberjacks still played here. She would bring me to work, so I got to watch the teams warm up, plus I would always walk around under the bleachers looking for foul balls (I found like 30). Then one day just to put the icing on the cake, I won a raffle they had to win a ball autographed by the entire team! I know it wasn't any big team or anything, but it was great. 

As for a favorite store I miss two things - the first is Jolly John’s, my mom used to take me down there to get fried clams like once or twice a month. I walk by the building everyday, and it still brings back memories. The second is the original spot for Dirty John's (New Way Lunch) - not that the new spot isn't great, I still eat there like all the time, it's just nostalgia.

…And on The Future

As for the future, honestly if I could bring one thing to Glens Falls, it would be one giant creative space for every creative mind we have in this area to get together, talk, collaborate, create, and just be around other creatives. All for free (or at least affordable enough for everyone) with spaces and equipment for photographers, videographers, artists, musicians, and any creative project to just be able to come together and work on creating. We are lucky to live in an area with as much artistic support that we have, but there are still some barriers that are difficult for some people to overcome - musicians have a hard time finding a space to practice, high school students can't afford studio space, that kind of thing. I just want to take the starving out of starving artist.

Honestly, this area is just a great place to raise a family - no hurricanes, no tornadoes, lots of snow, beautiful lakes and mountains within driving distance. As a photographer, I am very lucky that I live here, but as a father I feel pretty good about sticking around.

My Glens Falls: Sarah Mosher

This week, we’re chatting with Sarah Mosher! If you’ve ever been to Morgan and Company, you’re sure to recognize her smiling face. We were so happy to have the opportunity to get to know her a bit better, including where she grew up, what brought her here, and all of the sweet reasons why she’s so happy to call Glens Falls home now. Fair warning, her answers might just make you fall in love with our city even more…

Tell us about yourself!

I’m Sarah Mosher, a server at Morgan and Company Restaurant. My husband is Michael, he's a manager at the Queensbury 99 Restaurant. We have three dogs that I'm mildly obsessed with: two pomeranians (JoJo and Nora) and a corgi mix (Sawyer).

I grew up in Hilton, a village outside of Rochester, New York. My sister, Emily lives close in Albany (she also attended SUNY Albany), the rest of my family still resides in western NY.  My father and sisters visit here in the summer, it's always nice showing them what's new and exploring the area with them.

One of my favorite things about my job is chatting with people who are passing through or visiting. I love hearing newcomers rave about how much they enjoy our little city. I also love the familiar faces of the regulars who brighten a shift when they come in. Working outside in the warmer months is wonderful, the view of City Park and the gazebo are a treat. I work with a good crew, that are more friends than just coworkers. Ever since I started working there I felt more connected to the community of Glens Falls, it's a nice feeling.

On Life in Glens Falls

I am a transplant to the city.  After finishing college at SUNY Albany, my roommate and I moved here because we got summer jobs in Lake George. Apartments were hard to come by in LG, so we decided to look in Glens Falls. We thought it would be fun to work the summer then move on to a new adventure. After the summer had ended, I had fallen in love with the area, its hometown feel, and I decided to stay. It was the perfect balance of urban and rural to me - I can walk to shops and restaurants, yet a hike in the mountains surrounded by wilderness is a quick drive away. That was back in 2005 and since then this has been my home.

Admittedly, I had never heard of Glens Falls until moving here, but my mother had. She was a labor and delivery nurse and the first hospital she had worked at, Genessee Hospital in Rochester, had modeled its birthing unit after the Glens Falls Hospital's. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to learn she had snuck away to the hospital during one of my family's visits to ask for a tour of their snuggery and chat with fellow nurses.

Michael and I bought a house on Vanderheyden Street about two years ago. It's around the corner from the house on William Street where he grew up and his mother still resides at. I have a great mother in law, it's nice to live so close to her since most of my family lives hours away. Some of our neighbors have lived here since Michael was a kid, so he already knew them. He even has a memory of trick or treating as a kid at the house we now own, at the time 3 elderly woman lived there and handed out homemade cookies for Halloween treats.   

I am in love with our home. We've been doing projects to put our own stamp on it. It's fun realizing we're both more handy than we thought we were. Michael was delighted to learn he's good at fixing a leaking toilet. We just put in a new window in our upstairs hall so now we're painting a new color. Of course that has now led to new carpet for the stairs. There's always a new project lurking, we really enjoy making our house our home.

I love to garden and our yard was a blank canvas. My favorite thing in summer is tending to my vegetable garden, mowing the lawn, adding new perennials to the landscape.

In the warmer weather I take the dogs for long morning walks through our neighborhood. I know most people by their dogs - there is a Newfoundland named Oliver on Hunter Street that always has a lot to bark about. His owner and I usually exchange pleasantries while shouting over the canine conversation between our pups.

Some Glens Falls Favorites

There's a lot I love about the city of Glens Falls. Early summer Saturday mornings at the farmers market or spending a snowy day stocking up on books to read at Crandall Library. Picking up a Chronicle to read during morning coffee is a weekly habit of mine. I enjoy the festivals - LARAC, Taste of the North Country, and the car show downtown during the Balloon Festival. It's nice when downtown is bustling with a good vibe.  

I appreciate the location of Glens Falls. There's all sorts of opportunities for a good day trip.  Recently we went to MASS MoCA, a fantastically fun art museum in Massachusetts. This past fall, we ventured to the Grafton Peace Pagoda - a beautiful serene structure in the middle of the woods. Both trips took us through country roads with gorgeous views, covered bridges, passing through villages and rolling farmland on the way.

The community garden by Rite Aid always has gorgeous sunflowers that bloom near the end of summer. I drive by it on my way to work and love when the sunflowers have matured to their towering size and glory. It is awesome that the empty lawn was turned into a space with purpose and beauty.

Last summer a drum circle was popping up here and there in City Park. One afternoon they were playing and I had just finished a brunch shift, so I wandered across the street, sat on a bench enjoying the balmy, sunny, summer day, and listening to their music. It's so neat that a bunch of people can gather with no set song and produce such pretty music.

A Perfect GF Day

A perfect Glens Falls day for me would start at Rock Hill Bakehouse (now The Exchange Cafe) for breakfast. They have a great vegan menu. Maybe pop into Rude Betty or Laura's Vintage, two favorite shops of mine. Rude Betty has a lot of quirky things, and Laura's Vintage has a beautiful collection of clothes and jewelry from the past.  

Then I'd probably take the dogs for a stroll through the trails in Crandall Park. If they mind their manners, I'd probably take them for a doggy ice cream at Coopers Cave.

I would wind down the day with inviting my sister and brother in law, Emily and Casey, up from Albany for hibachi at Mikado. Maybe grab a nightcap at Fenimore's Pub at the Queensbury Hotel, it's super cozy (and in good proximity to work and home).

On the Past

I miss the store Poor Richards Antiques. It was always fun to browse and buy. There was an electroshock therapy machine in there that was creepy and intriguing. Someone actually bought it and I wonder why.

The window displays of Downtown Charm, it was a cute shop.

A nice memory was one snowy night when my husband and I went to Fenimore's and ran into the night manager, Frank. My husband knew him from he had worked at The Queensbury years before. Frank ended up giving us a late night tour of the hotel, mostly for me since Michael had worked there. But we walked through the quiet hotel with our wine while Frank told little anecdotes about various spots in the hotel and took us through "behind the scene" spots. I thought the old mail slot that goes through each floor of the hotel ending in the lobby was super cool.  This was years ago, before they had begun to restore the hotel.

…And on the Future

A bookstore would be a nice addition. Maybe a mixture of new and used books. There was Red Fox Books years ago...

My dream would be to have a Wegmans grocery store open up here. Being from western New York, we have a cult like appreciation for Wegmans. Although thinking of grocery stores, I was sorry to see the Cooper Street Price Chopper close - it was super convenient to pop into. A Trader Joes would be a neat replacement in that empty space

This week, we’re kicking things off with one of our go-to gals for fashion, Maura Forcier of MinkyMink! Read on to find out why she’s stayed local, a favorite store from her childhood (anyone else remember going there?!), and her favorite spot for date night.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Maura Eilene Forcier and I own MinkyMink in Downtown Glens Falls. Before I owned my own business, I worked in healthcare marketing. When I'm not at the shop, you'll find me trail running with my dogs (Phoebe + Cody) or adventuring around the Adirondacks with my husband, Mike.

On Life in Glens Falls

I'm a Lake George native, so I grew up in the area. I went to college in Vermont and then lived in Saratoga as well. So, I've managed to stay local. I moved back to Glens Falls from Saratoga in 2015 when my husband and I bought a home. Glens Falls was so much more economical than other places that we looked at and our jobs are both in Glens Falls, so it was a no-brainer for us. You can get so much more bang for your buck when you buy a home in this city. 

My husband and I own a two family home very close to Downtown. It's a white brick house built in 1920 that we absolutely adore. We are slowly renovating it and making it our own. What I love about our neighborhood is that it's close to everything, so I can walk to MinkyMink in literally 5 minutes! Yet somehow, it's still so hard for me to be on time! 

Some Glens Falls Favorites

Where do I begin? I love our little city! I spend a lot of time in Cole's Woods where I run a few times a week. It's great for running, walking or mountain biking. In the winter, they light up the trails at night for cross country skiing, which is very cool. If you haven't been there, take advantage of it!

A Perfect GF Day

I love this question! My perfect day in Glens Falls would have to start with some sort of exercise. Either running in Cole's Woods, a class at Yoga Kayla, Hot Yoga Queensbury or at the YMCA. After breaking a sweat, I would head over to Spektor with some girlfriends and order a cafe au lait and a "Fresh." After breakfast, I'd drive to Crandall Park with husband and let my dogs run around. If I'm at MinkyMink, I usually order a salad from Gourmet Cafe (they know my order by heart) and they will run it down to me if they aren't super busy. I also frequent the Juicin' Jar, where I get a beet juice or a smoothie. If I get some free time, I always like to check out Fountain Square Outfitters to see what new gear they have in store. Love their Darn Tough socks! If it's a treat myself kind of day, I would get a manicure at Nails by Bari. She always does an amazing job! For dinner, my husband and I frequent Raul's...their taro chips are my favorite. For drinks, we would stop by Mean Max for a beer and then head over to Downtown Social so I can get a prosecco. Voila, a perfect Glens Falls Day! 

On the Past

My cousin Mary Kate grew up in Glens Falls, so I would spend a lot of time at her house. We would always ride our bikes to "The Big Party," which used to be in the Quaker Plaza. We would get candy, games, and what ever else we could buy with the little money we had. I remember riding our bikes all around Glens Falls and visiting with family, friends and spending time outside. I'm feeling nostalgic already! 

…and On the Future

It would be so awesome if there was a dog park in Glens Falls. I take my pups to Crandall Park a lot, but it would be so fun if there was a designated space for dogs so they could run around and socialize with each other. 

A lot of my customers comment that there isn't enough parking downtown. If we could build a multi level parking garage, I know it would increase business in Glens Falls. 

The Glens Falls community has been so supportive of MinkyMink and I'm grateful that I am able to live, work and play in this city. I'm excited for all of the new businesses opening up and look forward to the continued growth of Glens Falls.
